Take the stress out of your Easter morning by preparing these delicious and sweet muffins and breads ahead of time.

I don’t know about you, but Easter morning always tends to be a bit chaotic. Between the kids waking up and being excited to find their Easter baskets, to getting ready to go to church, to making sure everyone has something to eat, our morning is always a bit rushed.

At our house, our kids hunt for Easter eggs once we have returned home from church. But that usually is around lunch time so having some quick grab-and-go breakfast muffins or breads in my kitchen is a must!

When it comes to baking muffins and breads, the options are endless. By starting with a general base recipe, you can add pretty much any ingredients and make them ahead of time. In previous years, I have made homemade cinnamon rolls, but truth be told, those require a lot of time to prepare and rise.

All of these breakfast breads and muffins recipes have been tested by my kids and they approve! Enjoy these muffins and breads while you sip a cup of coffee and enjoy the special holiday with your family and friends!

Baking FAQs

What is the secret to good muffins?

  1. use high quality ingredients that are not expired. As silly as that sounds to suggest to use non-expired ingredients, certain baking ingredients, such as baking soda and powder, which aren’t used very often can mistakingly become expired while sitting in your pantry!
  2. read recipe instructions before beginning. Many times there are tips within a recipe card, don’t skip over those!
  3. mix dry ingredients thoroughly in a bowl before adding them to wet ingredients
  4. use room temperature ingredients; eggs, milk and butter
  5. don’t over mix wet and dry ingredients
  6. prepare your muffin tins or loaf pan properly; vegetable spray, vegetable shortening sprinkled with all-purpose four, store bought cupcake liners, or parchment paper will help ensure that your muffins and breads come out beautifully
  7. don’t over fill your pans
  8. half way through the suggested baking time, rotate your muffin tin or loaf pan in your oven to ensure even baking
  9. let muffins and breads cool before removing them from the tins or pans

How do you keep muffins from sticking?
Muffins and breads can easily become stuck to the bottom of a muffin tin or loaf pan, even if you are using a non-stick pan. It’s important to properly prepare your bakeware before filling with the muffin or bread mix.

Ways to line muffin tins and loaf pans:

  • spray each tin with vegetable spray
  • using a paper towel, spread vegetable shortening generously in each tin, sprinkle with all-purpose flour and then shake out excess flour
  • use store bought cupcake liners. They come in many different styles, colors and designs!
  • cut parchment paper to fit inside the loaf pan and place inside. Pour batter oven the parchment paper and bake

How to store muffins and breads?
Place muffins and breads in a bread storage container or a Ziplock bag and store in a cool space in your kitchen. You can also wrap the pans with plastic wrap and store. Many muffins and breads can be preserved longer by being stored in the refrigerator.
