Homemade Pesto
This homemade basil pesto is made with five simple ingredients. Pesto sauce is quick and easy to make and is very versatile. Pesto can be used on my Pasta with Homemade Pesto Cream Sauce, Grilled Pesto Tomato Mozzarella Sandwiches, Caprese Burgers, or added to these Meatball Burgers with Sun Dried Tomato Pesto. Grab a handful of fresh basil and lets get started!
I love pesto! But to be honest, I’m not a fan of pesto in a jar from the grocery stores, it always seems a bit tart or bitter. During the warmer months, I love to grow basil in container gardens and in super cute distressed farmhouse planters. I’ve grown several different types, even purple basil! I’m awful at keeping plants alive, but basil is one of the easiest things to grow, even for me!

Pulse the food processor a couple of times.
Add extra-virgin olive oil.
Pulse again until you reach the desired consistency for the pesto basil sauce. On my little food processor, it usually takes around 20-30 seconds. If needed, remove the lid, scrape the sides of the food processor and pulse again.
Store in a Mason jar in the refrigerator up to 4 days.
I like to use these plastic reusable Mason jar lids for items I am not canning.
