I make these pumpkin chocolate chip muffins not only during the Fall, but all year long. I make them when guests come to town, I make them with my kiddos, I make them for parties. I make them on a random Tuesday, just because.
A Special Recipe
These muffins and I go way back. Way back to when I lived in Georgia, as a newly wed that was living 1,000 miles away from home.
We lived in the deep South, in a region called “the heart of Georgia” in a town called Dublin. I was working as a Recreational Therapist at an Assisted Living & Memory Care facility and loving life. My residents were absolutely amazing {yes, I even love old people! Not just old houses!}
Fun Fact: one of my residents was Karl Slover, one of the Munchkins from the Wizard of Oz! In November 2007, my co-workers and I flew to Hollywood with him and the other surviving Munchkins at that time and he was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! *I seriously need to share about this trip! My photos are a bit “lost” from our house fire…but I’ll work on finding them!
One day, I was talking with one of my co-workers about these pumpkin chocolate chip muffins my mother-in-law had made a few years back for a wedding shower she threw for me. She told me that she had an amazing recipe from the Dublin Service League and would give it to me.
From the day I received that recipe, I do believe that these are the most often made recipe I have ever made in my entire life. They are absolutely amazing. They are rich in flavor and full of sugar – and bursting with wonderful, happy memories for me {we bought our first house here and my first two babies were born here}!
