How To Clean A Glass Oven Door

Looking for an easy way to clean your oven door? Here is the best way to clean inside oven door glass that has food build up and grease.

Whether you’re a seasoned cook or not, it is inevitable to keep your oven clean all of the time. Food accidentally bubbles over or things fall off of the pan when you pull it out of the bottom, causing your oven door window and oven floor to become dirty.

If the grease and food debris is not cleaned regularly, they will burn and cause your oven to become more dirty and harder to clean. Regularly cleaning your oven is a good idea to avoid extra work down the road.

4 Ways To Clean Oven Glass

  1. Self Cleaning Cycle

On most ovens, there is a self cleaning option. The oven automatically locks the door and heats the oven to a very high temperature for a certain amount of time (usually a couple of hours) and burns off most of the spill over, grease, food, etc that has graced the inside of your oven. This method is effective, but it is super super stinky. I would suggest only running the self cleaning cycle on a day when you can open the windows and have good ventilation.

Be certain to follow your manufacturer’s guidelines for using the self cleaning cycle to avoid mishaps or voids of warranty.4 Ways To Clean Glass Oven Doors #1 Self Cleaning Cycle | Gathered In The Kitchen

  2. Make A Baking Soda Paste

If you have fresh spill over from food, remove the food once it is done baking. While the oven is still warm, pour baking soda over the spill and wipe up once the oven has cooled.
You can create a paste with water and baking soda. Mix equal parts water and baking soda in a bowl. Apply to oven floor, glass window or oven top with a 3M sponge and scrub clean. Wipe off excess baking soda cleaner with a wet washcloth and repeat until clean.4 Ways To Clean Glass Oven Doors #2 Make A Baking Soda Paste | Gathered In The Kitchen

  3. Shaklee Degreaser

Often times your oven can become greasy feeling but there is no food spill over. It is important to clean up the excess grease to avoid any further mess. While many stores sell degreasing products, I prefer to use Shaklee Basic H2. Mixed at the degreaser formula (1 1/2 tsp to 16oz water) and poured into a spray bottle, cleaning up grease is super easy. Once your oven is cooled, spray your oven after baking greasy items and wipe down with a paper towel. If the grease is tough to remove, spray a generous amount of the Shaklee Basic H2 cleaner on the grease and allow to sit for 10-20 minutes. Wipe clean with a paper towel. Repeat if necessary.4 Ways To Clean Glass Oven Doors #3 Shaklee Degreaser Formula with Basic H2 | Gathered In The Kitchen
