My family lives very on-the-go lives. Whether we are running between school and sports or hiking or spending time on the lake, we are not always able to wash our hands with soap and water when we desperately need to! Traditional store bought hand sanitIzer doesn’t settle well with my family as it gives us all headaches from the smells. Not to mention, it always dries my kids hands out.

So what is a mom to do? How do you solve the dirty, germy hands problem?

Being a mom of 3 littles, this is what I do!

  1. I always keep a package of baby wipes in my van (I love this brand because they are chemical free!). Honestly, these have saved my life in more ways than not! I have my kiddos wipe off their hands to remove any dirt or residue and then throw it away in my backseat garage can.
  2. Once their hands are wiped off, I pass around our DIY hand sanitizer that uses essential oils. I make up a bottle and store it in my van or purse and it lasts a really long time! This sanitizing mist purifies their hands by eliminating bacteria and other germs on the skin without drying it out. Plus, it has a wonderful citrus spice aroma that makes my usually very stinky van smell wonderful!! (at least for a short period of time!)

What is an essential oil?

Essential oils are pure extracts from plants, they are 50-70 times more powerful than herbs and are nature’s defense mechanism for plants and cells. They are highly concentrated so a little goes a very long way and they are a safe, effective, affordable, and an alternative to many synthetic products/remedies.
