5 Unique Ways To Decorate With Wooden Spindles
Create a home you love by incorporating antique finds into your every day decor. Here are 5 unique ways to decorate with wooden spindles.
I am always looking for ways to incorporate all of my crazy odds and ends into my everyday decor. From styling wooden trays to adding old vintage finds, I feel there is a place for everything!
One of my favorite things to look for at antique stores is old wooden spindles or dowels. Sometimes, I buy pieces of dilapidated furniture, just so I can saw off the spindles and reuse them for decor. My hubby loves my addiction…hahaha!
Spindles remind me of snowflakes – they are {usually} always differently shaped. I think that’s why I like them so much!

How To Decorate With Wooden Spindles
1. Display in pots, urns and more!
Place old wooden spindles in a copper coal scuttle with porcelain handles! I love unique antique finds…especially if they are really old!
These “spindles” are actually old wooden thread spools that I bought in North Carolina – a lot of old cotton mills, that used to make clothing, have been converted into antique stores and there are lots of old treasures to be found!
2. Display on a tray
Stack distressed wooden spindles on a tray with florals and books. Give the spindles an extra oomph by giving them a distressed painted job first!
3. Stack in a wooden box
Stage old wooden spindles in an old wooden box along with greenery and old thrift store books! These spools also came from an old cotton mill in North Carolina! Make a wood bead garland to help add some extra texture!
4. Repurpose into something new!
Build a side table or stool using vintage and discarded wooden spindles with this tutorial!
5. Make Candlesticks
Using a circular or handheld saw, cut your spindles to the desired height and place candles on top of them! While these candlesticks were always candlesticks, I wanted to show you these as an example and show you how I transformed them here.

Good ideas and definitely, thought provoking.
I love these. I bought a lot several years ago – a basket full for maybe $2. But I no longer have them.
