Thankful for Friends

Being a stay at home mom affords you many privileges. You get to stay in sweats all day, throw your hair in a ponytail, open the refrigerator just to gaze, watch talkshows, go out shopping at your leisure and prepare dinner for your hardworking hubby. You get to sing at the top of your lungs songs that were popular 15 years ago, dance around your living room, make obnoxious noises, faces, body gestures (and the list goes on) to make your children happy. You also get to deal with the sky high pile of laundry and dishes and dust! You get to deal with the temper tantrums, the messes, the discipline and the dogs! And at the end of the day when it’s time for the kids to go to bed, you go to bed out of sheer exhaustion from being  an entertainer all day long.

Rereading this makes me tired! 🙂 And that is why God created friends. Since we’ve moved to SC I have been blessed with the greatest friends! We schedule play dates at our houses, the park, indoor fun zones all so that the kids can play…and us moms can have a conversation with another adult!

Today was one of those therapy lucky days! A play date at the park with my good friend Jill…the park where we met while pushing our kids in the swings right after we moved here. We began talking and discovered that our oldest munchkins were born on the same day (5 hours apart…but in different states) and the babies were 12 days apart! We both have moved here from the midwest due to our husband’s jobs. We both have interesting family stories and we each claim our own houses to be messier than the others. We were meant to be friends!

Today I laughed like a hyena all the while holding hands with Little Finch as she slid down the slides and wiping boogie noses. We stayed until the 60 degree weather had us shivering (what can I say, I’ve adjusted to the southern climates!!)

The best part about great friends is they are there for you when you call and ask for directions because you happened to turn the wrong way! 😉

I love my friends!
