California: San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge – Day 8
Hey Guys! If you’ve been following along you know that my hubby and I were flown to California for an all expenses paid trip because of my Shaklee business! We took some extra time to ourselves and really enjoyed every minute!
Day 8 we traveled across the bay from Pleasanton, CA to San Francisco!
We then took a Cable Car to Fisherman’s Wharf

I’ll be honest, I’m not necessarily the biggest fan of “cityscapes” – I’m totally more of an outdoorsy/nature person so at first I wasn’t “ooing and ahhing” over Fisherman’s Wharf…but then we walked to Hyde Street Pier which is apart of the National Parks System and I was totally interested! Seeing the old ships was really awesome!
The pier actually overlooked an aquatic park!!…what?!?!? Have you ever heard of this before? We certainly hadn’t. So cool!!
…and there were actually people swimming! Honestly, I don’t know how they were in that water without a wet suit! 😉 I somehow was toooootally not prepared for the “frigid” temperatures of San Francisco! Read on and you’ll see what I mean after the Golden Gate Bridge 😉
We then headed back up the Wharf and ate at Fog Harbor Fish House, which had great reviews. But I’ll be honest, neither of us were super impressed with the food…I was dying for some good fried shrimp and I was a bit disappointed. I think in my case I just prefer southern fried shrimp. (I ordered shrimp at several different restaurants along the trip and didn’t like any of it so I think feel I can validate my statement, lol)
We walked along the pier for a bit more and came upon a ton of seals just hanging out! It was SO windy and SO freezing that I seriously could hardly steady my hands to record.
When we had been planning our trip beforehand several people told us to get an Irish Coffee at The Buena Vista – so that’s just what we did! We walked to the super cute teeny tiny cafe, sat at a table with other people and enjoyed our coffees! Because I don’t like whiskey I ordered mine as just a regular coffee…they both look exactly the same just taste different. It was seriously the best coffee I’ve ever had! That cream….ahhh I’ve been dreaming of it ever since we left!
After our coffee break we headed towards the Golden Gate bridge. We walked…and walked…and walked. In total we walked over 18 miles this day!
Check out these awesome houses!!
The bridge seem so close…but is sooo far away still :-/
Let me just tell you again how FREEZING it was! It was so windy. Honestly I’m not sure how Chicago is called the Windy City compared to San Francisco!
EEKKKK!! Looking down. Not going to lie, it was kind of creepy because you could totally feel the bridge swaying at times, especially when the huge gusts of wind came and large trucks passed by.
It was sooo windy! I kept worrying that this sailboat out on the bay was going to capsize!
We made it to the other side!! 1.7 miles one way!
And then back across!
Remember when I told you how WINDY it was. Well I was not lying!
Look at my legs! I had stinking hives from being so cold! **I might add that we were the only idiots out there without winter coats! (I’m not joking). We later took a taxi and our taxi driver told us this when I asked him about the weather…
…and more shot of me with the bridge 🙂 I actually thought this was very symbolic because I was brought out to California because of my Shaklee business. My Shaklee team is spread out all over the USA. So…the bridge symbolizes our Shaklee businesses because it brings us together! 🙂 #dork 🙂
The flowers along the way were just gorgeous!
California has been in a huge drought for a couple of years now – at most of the restaurants we ate at we weren’t served water unless we asked. Even our hotel rooms had stickers on the mirrors saying not to waste water.
Back on solid ground over at Fisherman’s Wharf 🙂
We had such a great day in San Francisco! Now that we’re back home in NC I really miss CA and want to go back!
