8 Pies To Make This Fall

There’s nothing better than filling your tummy with a warm, decadent pie after you’ve already reached the expansion limits of your stomach! HAHA!

When I was a kid growing up, I always saved room for dessert. I mean, if I’m being honest, that was the best part of the meal besides my dad’s ham and my mom’s egg noodles. However, as I’ve gotten older, moved away and found myself hosting the holidays many times, I have often not eaten dessert because my stomach simply cannot expand anymore.

There’s something about taking all day (sometimes more than one day) preparing all of the food for the feast (which of course takes precisely 4.36 minutes to eat! Lol and 10 hours of dishwashing!) When I prepare the holiday meal, I not only make things that I know I will like, but I always make sure I eat all of them! Why else would I have spent all day making it?

Unfortunately, that means the dessert is not the course I save the most room for anymore (growing up stinks! Haha). Even though, I always try to make a homemade pie to finish out our meal, I don’t always get to enjoy it the day of.

This year, as I prepare to host, feed and house 15 people, I’m making sure that I save room for dessert! I think I’m going to need it!

I’ve gathered all of my favorite homemade pie recipes and put them here in one place so they are easy to access. Some of the photos are not “the best” but…that doesn’t mean they don’t taste amazing! So, look past the photos and give one or two of these pies a try this year! You’ll thank me, I promise!

Let’s Talk Pie Crust

Before we dive into the various pie recipes I have to share with you, let’s take a moment and talk about pie crust. Because a pie crust can make or break a pie in my opinion.

Store-bought pie crust has truly come along way and actually tastes really amazing! I often times use the pre-made crust when I’m in a time crunch and don’t have enough time to make homemade pie crust.

Let’s go over some of the reasons I love store-bought pie crust:

  • it’s already made! (duh!)
  • it’s very easy to work with – you can cut out shapes and make designs easily
  • it’s thin – part of the problem with making homemade pie crust is that you have to roll it out thin enough to not be like a loaf of bread on top of your pie. This definitely takes practice and patience!

Let’s go over some of the reasons I love homemade pie crust:

  • the extra flakey buttery crust
  • you can roll the dough as thin or as thick as you like
  • you know all of the ingredients and can modify to organic, etc if you prefer
  • it just tastes better, plain and simple

  1. That’s a lot of pies and they all look amazing!!

  2. The pies look amazing but the pop up adds are terrible and make it difficult to get thru your site.

  3. All of these pies look incredible, however, the amount of pop up ads are challenging to navigate. Also, the actual recipe posted would be awesome too. Otherwise, I think you have such talent.
