My most favorite meal to go out to eat for is breakfast, especially on the weekends. It’s almost like a gift to me, starting off the day without having to cook or wash dishes. Who else is with me?
Unfortunately, my kiddos don’t always share in this same sentiment. When our weekends are not busy with sports, they would much rather prefer relaxing and eating breakfast at home. Which I get.
During the week, our mornings are always rushed. No matter how early or late I wake up, it’s the same morning routine every day.

Breakfast for my kiddos typically consists of smoothies or overnight oats that we made the night before and stuck in the refrigerator.
But on those weekend days, when we do stay home for breakfast, and are not in a rush to head out the door, I do make homemade breakfasts that usually consist of the best crispy breakfast potatoes, tater tot breakfast casserole or my all-time favorite, broccoli quiche {I could eat this quiche for every meal for a month and not tire of it!}
However, there are a lot of times that I do not have the ingredients for more complicated recipes, nor do I feel like cooking for a long time. That’s where these breakfast egg burritos come into play. They are super easy to make and only require one pan! Yay for easy clean up!
Sausage, Egg & Cheese Breakfast Burrito Ingredients
- pork sausage – I prefer to use Jimmy Dean pork sausage in the original flavor. *Tip: I have found that at some grocery stores, this is kept in the refrigerated isle near the bacon, while at other stores, it is kept in the freezer section near the frozen breakfast sandwiches.
- egg – I prefer to use organic, free-range eggs from our backyard hobby farm chickens! (p.s. check out this post How To Check If Eggs Are Still Edible | Egg Float Test)
- cheese – you can use whatever kind of cheese you prefer. For a more flavor, use either Mexican or fiesta seasoned cheese instead of cheddar cheese.
- tortilla shells – nuke in the microwave for a few seconds before adding the scrambled egg and sausage mixture. This makes the tortillas easier to roll.
- salsa – adding salsa is optional. If you prefer a little more heat, add in your favorite salsa or hot sauce. I love mine with a green salsa verde salsa!
Alternative Breakfast Burrito Combinations
- ham and cheese
- bacon, sausage and egg
- potato, sausage and egg
- hash browns, sausage, egg and cheese
- make it a veggie burrito!! – green peppers, onions, zucchini and mushrooms!
Let’s Make Them Together!
Can you freeze breakfast burritos?
Yes, you can freeze breakfast burritos? Roll burritos and allow to cool to room temperature. Wrap each burrito individually, tightly with freezer paper. Place wrapped burritos in a freezer Ziplock bag and place in freezer. Store for 1 month in the freezer.
How do you heat frozen breakfast burritos?
Remove from the freezer, unwrap freezer paper. Wrap breakfast burrito in a paper towel and place in the microwave for 30 second increments. Each microwave heats differently. In my microwave, I heat for 1 minute at an 80% power.

Similar to heating a frozen burrito, place the burrito in the microwave and heat for 15 second increments.
