Update #19: Beginning of Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC

Slowly but surly progress is being made at the house and we are finally seeing some changes…in the direction of getting us back home!!

These past couple of weeks the electrical, plumbing and HVAC has begun. There’s still a long way to go for all of them, but at least we’re moving in the right direction!

Electrical

Plumbing

There were some major issues that came up once the plumber got started because of communication errors but they were eventually worked out and all should be good. We changed the shower/tub faucet location to an exterior wall…which needed extra framing because the pipes can freeze. A secondary wall was built off of the regular exterior wall with some insulation. It was a pain in the butt, but it’s all worth the pretty fixtures I bought!

The fixtures I bought to go in the kid’s bathroom totally rock!!! They won’t be installed until the very end – after walls are up, etc – but, I beyond love them! They are from Signature Hardware … here are some screenshots of them! (p.s. for all those inquiring minds, this is not covered by insurance, these are our own personal expenses).

I bought two of these wall mounted faucets that will go with a Kohler sink I have picked out to buy.

This is the tub and shower fixture – to go with the Kohler clawfoot tub we’ll be buying.

HVAC

There are many changes happening with our HVAC system – instead of a single system (1 control), a 2nd system is being installed. What that means is we’ll have dual controls. So, the basement and 1st floor will be controlled by one system and then 2nd floor will have its own controls. As efficient as this will be, it sucks because the 2nd system now takes up a pretty decent sized space in the attic. It also now means that all of our beautiful cast iron vent grates can no longer be used. So we have to find an alternative because the replacement we would be given look like they belong in a dentist office. Ugh!
