Our Neutral Paint Color Scheme
Choosing the colors for the interior walls of your home can be a challenge. Sticking with more a more neutral pallet will allow you to add color through your decor, rugs and furniture. Here are my top 7 favorite color choices by Benjamin Moore that work well in any space.
We bought house #3 in 2012 and spent six years renovating every inch of it. While we did a lot of dramatic work (aka built a brand new kitchen) but some of the most noticeable differences could be seen simply by changing the paint colors. It is amazing what a can of paint can do to a room – this is the perfect way to transform a room for the DIYer on a budget!!
While every paint color can change its appearance simply from the lighting and decor around it, I have shown below how every room in our house looked – often times, with the same paint color but it looks totally different in each room. All of the colors I used were from Benjamin Moore, my favorite line of paint.
I tend to lean more towards neutral colors for my walls that way I can interchange my decorations with more bold or fun colors, especially for the holidays. However, I do like to add in color in our bathrooms as you aren’t adding as much decor in there!

I love your home!!! It’s beautiful !! I’m tore between Manchester Tan and Edgecomb Gray. How does Manchester Tan look in East and West facing rooms ? Does it hold up good in a lot of natural light? And a room without natural light ? Just wondering. And also do you have a specific green you would pair with either of these two neutrals? Sorry for so many questions. Thank you.
Hi MaDonna! I used Manchester Tan in three of my homes! I loved that color so much! I LOOOOVE Benjamin Moore paint as it’s extra high quality and is worth the few extra dollars. It holds up great (I have 3 kiddos and a million pets!)
Green = I haven’t paired this with Manchester Tan, but my all-time favorite green is called Heritage Park by Behr. (you have have it mixed in Behr paint or Benjamin Moore can color match it). I love it! My kitchen cabinets and library room walls are this green and I seriously just love it. It’s a bit of a creamy green. Nothing extra harsh or “too green”. You can see photos of it in this blog post or on my Instagram account where I have several photos of the green cabinets shown. https://gatheredinthekitchen.com/a-glimpse-of-our-green-kitchen/
