Gardening Inspiration

I am a person who does not like to repeat a task over and over, especially when it comes to gardening!

I, for lack of better terms would be considered a lazy gardener. I have no problem dreaming up ideas, buying plants or even planting them…I love that part.

The part I hate is taking care of them! Which is so odd because my most favorite thing in the world is to be a mom to my kids (and take care of them beyond what they would like anymore! haha #teenagers).

Watering, pruning and weeding = such boring tasks! Even though they yield such pretty results, they just are not my most favorite gardening chore.

Thankfully, we were blessed with beautiful landscaping at our 1886 Victorian Farmhouse. Our loooong front sidewalk was beautifully lined with perennials that come back every year! The best kind of plant!

While I’ve definitely had to tame most of the plants to be a more appropriate size and weed more hours than I like, I have gotten to add a few items to the space that make it feel even more full and homey!

Here are five fall blooms to line your sidewalk with:

  1. Orange Coneflower
  2. Russian Sage
  3. Roses
  4. Summer Ragwort (aka Leopardplant)
  5. Iris
  6. Hostas
  7. Yellow Daylily

If you’re like me, these flower names may mean absolutely nothing. I need to see photos! Below I’ll show you what each flower looks like in September, right as the weather starts to turn chili here in Wisconsin.

01 | Orange Coneflower

Beautiful dark yellow/bright orange flowers that bloom at the end of summer and last several weeks. Before the blooms appear, they are green, leafy plants that love to spread!
