7 Things Every Laundry Room Needs
Laundry.
Ugh, a word I really dislike.
It is amazing how my little family of five can create so much laundry in one days time! It’s almost Guinness World Record worthy.
I would like to blame our excess laundry on Covid and all of the other germs out there that we’ve all been made very aware of in the past couple of years, but truth be told, I am a bit of a weirdo with putting worn clothes back into closets or drawers. {I should add that this is meant for clothes worn outside of our house…I literally wear the same black stretchy pants and sweatshirt for 3 days in a row! Haha!}

So, as much as I’d like to blame everyone else for the heaping piles of laundry that I face daily, I do have to assume a lot of the responsibility on my own fetishes!
7 Things Every Laundry Room Needs
Here’s my list of the must-haves for every laundry room regardless of size!

1. Detergent Container
Aside from the main necessities; a washer and dryer, laundry detergent is the next main character. Having a cute storage container to keep your detergent is seriously a must-have! This one is my favorite container to store my hands down, all-time favorite laundry detergent!

2. Lint Bin
We all know how important it is to clean out the lint trap after every load…right? Please do this safety task each time you switch out a load! But, what do you do with the lint once you remove it? I hate tracking it across my house to a garage can (the joys of an 1886 Victorian home, my laundry room isn’t big enough for a garbage can) So, I solved all of my problems with the most amazing magnetic lint bin!
3. Catch-All Baskets
Wicker baskets, Mason jars, and pots are definitely some of my go-to items that I’ve always been sure to include in all of my previous laundry rooms. I actually think these items might be the most important in my laundry room. I have a basket for lonely socks, a basket for dryer sheets, lint rollers, and stain remover, and a jar for loose coins!

4. Peel and Stick Wallpaper
This definitely is the most fun item in my laundry room! I so wish I would have incorporated this into all of my past 3 laundry rooms! {yep, we’ve owned a lot of homes!} I just love that the floral wallpaper makes the room so cheery and fun! It definitely distracts from the mundane tasks of doing laundry! The best part about Peel and Stick, is that it goes up easy and comes off easily without wrecking your walls when you’re tired of the pattern!

5. Wall Hooks
The laundry room is where I store my broom and dust pan, my wet mop and my grocery bag “sock”. From time to time, I also hang items that can’t be put in the dryer on the hooks. I maximize my storage capacity by using double wall hooks. In my opinion, all hooks should be double!

6. Funny Signs
Doing laundry is definitely not a funny task…so why not lighten the mood with a little mom humor?!? You can see how I made my sign in this tutorial: Funny Laundry Room Sign | How To Make A Sign with A Silhouette Cameo or buy a laundry room sign already made!

7. All-Natural Detergent and Dryer Sheets
I am a very big proponent of using non-toxic , green cleaners to wash my family’s clothing. I made the switch back in 2014 when my son was experiencing really bad dry skin and I chose To Heal Dry Skin Naturally.
I use these laundry cleaners for everything! If you ever buy used clothing, here are my 5 Tips for Cleaning Used Clothing and if you ever are faced with smoke smells from either a campfire or a house fire {yep, been there!} here are my tips for How To Remove Stains and Smoke Smells from Fabric without harsh chemicals.

I absolutely LOVE the idea of the peel and stick wallpaper! Where do you find it? Can one person put it up easily on their own or does it require two people? Thank you! 🙂
Isn’t it so gorgeous? It’s sooo pretty! You can definitely do it by yourself – I’ve done it in many rooms now. HOWEVER, I will definitely say, it is easier with two people for when you are lining up the longs pieces only because they tend to “blow in the wind” while you’re trying to hang them. … I’ll just have to come visit and we can do a room makeover with wallpaper!!
