My hubby, kids, dogs and I traveled back to Chicago from North Carolina to celebrate Christmas with both of our families. While we were there, we made the most of our 9 days and packed pretty much every minute of every day full!
One of our favorite activities was ice skating downtown in the heart of the city at the Bean in Millennium Park.
The McCormick Tribune Ice Rink is located at the Bean in Millennium Park on Michigan Avenue between Washington and Madison Street.
Fortunately my parents still had my siblings and my skates from when we were younger so my kiddos were able to use those! *Tip: look at your local Play-It-Again Sports for used skates – that’s actually where I purchased the blue laced pair from for my youngest – and they actually have a double blade on the bottom, making it easier to keep your balance.
My husband and I had to rent ours for $14 each, however, you can use those all day long! So it’s worth it. You trade in your shoes to the rental counter and get them back when you return the skates.
The backdrop is just gorgeous. It’s so magical being in the city during Christmas with all of the decorations, music and snow!
We had so much fun!! If you’re in the area, you definitely need to make it a priority to go skate at the Bean!!
