Carolina Beach State Park, NC Campground
This last week my daughter was on spring so we decided last minute to head out to the beach and go camping! Yep, that’s right, tent camping! Ohh we had so much fun!
We stayed at Carolina Beach State Park in Carolina Beach, NC
The kids were such great helpers!
I literally had so much fun just watching my kids – this was our first camping trip since our youngest kiddo began walking so I’m so serious when I say it was so much fun!! I didn’t have to hold someone the entire time!

Carolina Beach
After we got camp set up we headed to the beach for a gorgeous night walk!
Breakfast the next morning with amazing little helpers!!
Kure Beach
We then spent the whole day at the beach – we decided to go to Kure Beach because it was recommended by the Park Ranger. It was gorgeous!
Ahh this was soo good for my soul! Perfect temperature and a beautiful day! We even saw dolphins swim the along the coastline 🙂
Carolina Beach State Park Hiking
The next morning we went on a hike around the campground, Carolina Beach State Park. We hiked the Sugarloaf trail. The trail had really beautiful plants along the way!
A little sunburnt from the day at the beach 🙂
Southport Transportation Ferry
That afternoon we took a ferry from Carolina Beach to Southport, NC to go eat at a restaurant Lover Boy and I wanted to eat at a few years ago when we rode our Harley up from South Carolina but they were closed (Lover Boy and his dad actually made the same trip a few years ago on the Harley’s and were able to eat there)
The kids had so much fun feeding the seagulls bread!
The ferry is called the Southport Ferry and it takes you across the Cape Fear River
Yacht Basin Provision Company
We ate at the Yacht Basin Provision Company – the restaurant I mentioned above
I enjoyed fresh steamed shrimp and a crab cake (the fries were for the kids, I actually don’t like french fries!)
Conch Fritters – really good!
We ate out on the pier and were entertained by this bird most of the time…
Southport, NC Historic Riverwalk
We then walked around the Historic Riverfront of Southport – the downtown is super cute and quaint. I particularly love the walk along the Cape Fear River
Flava’s Ice Cream Shop
After we enjoyed ice cream at Flava’s
And then the unthinkable happened…
I’ll explain in my next post…
