Thanksgiving Adventures 2024
This post is dedicated to my baseball mom friend who texted me saying, “You have it all together.” Little did she know, at that very moment, I was sitting at a basketball game with duck grease in my hair, wearing the same outfit from the day before! 🙈
Life’s not always as polished as it looks, and that’s okay. Here’s to embracing the chaos and keeping it real—because we’re all just doing the best we can! ❤️…especially during the busiest and jolliest time of the year! 🎄
Thanksgiving has come and gone and we are in full-swing Christmas mode. It’s been a hot minute since I last wrote a blog post – it’s not that I haven’t wanted to, it’s because I’ve simply been tending to life!!
Instead of sharing a recipe or tutorial today, I thought I’d do something different {like in the olden blogging days!!!!- my fav!} and share a little glimpse into what’s been happening in my life over the past few weeks—through photos! 📸 Life has been busy, messy, and full of moments worth remembering.

Thanksgiving Break
My husband and I both grew up in the same suburb of Chicago, and our parents still live there. So we headed down to Illinois for 4 days and enjoyed a lot of family time and traditions!
Wednesday
Wednesday we went with my mother-in-law to see a live play of Christmas Carol, it was a nice rendition and a great way to start off the holiday season! {no photos allowed always = party pooper!!!…so just use your imagination!}
Thursday
For Thanksgiving, my sister and her family came in from Texas – we haven’t seen them in two years!!! The last time we were together was for my brother’s wedding! So this was extra special because my brother now has a little schmoopie doopie baby boy – so all of the cousins were also together for the very first time!! 💕
Friday
Friday we rode the train into Chicago and enjoyed my favorite family Christmas tradition; visiting Santa at Macy’s Santaland and eating dinner in the beautiful, historical Walnut Room and stopping by the Christkindlmarket. This is a tradition we’ve been doing since I was a little girl, and I just love it! Even when we lived in Ohio, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, (and now Wisconsin) we always came “home” either at Thanksgiving or Christmas every single year and made this trip a priority. The only years we have missed were the Covid years 😭. I’m so thankful to do this with my parents every year! {being the oldest, I’m strong on traditions!}
While we didn’t have a table under the giant Walnut Room Christmas tree this year, we did have a little one of our own 😂
Saturday
Saturday we helped hunt for a Christmas tree for my mother-in-law and then got it set up in her house before heading home to Wisconsin!
Sunday 😲
Life was back to normal for the most part, minus the fact that the boys didn’t have baseball because of the holiday {thank God!…baseball and horse = run our lives!} I’ll share another update on what happened after this weekend!
Hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving!
