Cheese Stuffed Pumpkin Shaped Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
These cheese-stuffed pumpkin-shaped crescent rolls are the perfect festive appetizer for fall gatherings! Easy to make with Pillsbury crescent dough, they’re sure to be a crowd favorite at your next party.

I made these adorable cheese filled pumpkin rolls for my family and they loved them! They look like they would be super difficult to make, but I’m being honest, they were easy peasy!
The pumpkins themselves are made of only 3 ingredients: 1. canned Pilsbury Crescent Rolls 2. mozzarella cheese sticks 3. pretzel sticks. I love recipes like that, simple!
The pumpkin shape is formed by wrapping cotton baker’s twine around the dough ball. As the dough bakes and expands in the oven, the twine gently constricts it, creating the bulges that resemble a pumpkin.

Step-by-step guide to making pumpkin-shaped crescent rolls
- Unwrap the crescent rolls from the package, but keep rolled together. Cut into 2″ sections
- Unwrap mozzarella cheese sticks and cut into 1/3rds. Roll a piece of cheese into each crescent roll
- Cut bakers twine into 12″ sections and place the over top of the ball, flip the ball over and loosely tie the twine. Rotate the ball and repeat the tying process
- Repeat until all balls are tied
- Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown
- Remove from oven and let cool completely before cutting off the twine
- Place a pretzel stick in the top of each pumpkin roll

Tips/Problem Solving:
If you noticed in the photo above, where I’m cutting off the baker’s twine, some of the mozzarella cheese had seeped out of the rolls while baking. That’s OK! When you take the roll off of the pan, you can break/peel away the excess cheese. No big deal!
Sometimes the baker’s twine can be a bit challenging to cut off…simply because the roll expanded and kind of “ate” the twine. The way to resolve that is to not tie the string as tight before baking in the oven.
