Birthday Bash!

This past weekend we packed up the car, loaded the kiddos and the pups, and made a quick trip back to Illinois to celebrate what I can only describe as a monstrosity of events! June is already a big month in our family, but this year felt extra special — and extra busy!

Here’s the lineup of what we celebrated:

🎉 June 15th – My dad’s 60th birthday (how is that even possible??)
🎂 June 16th – Laughing Coyote’s 1st birthday (cue the proud mama tears)
💍 June 19th – My parents’ 40th wedding anniversary …oh, and it just happened to be Father’s Day too!

Needless to say, I officially go broke in June — but my heart is completely full! Even though it was a quick trip, it was absolutely packed with fun, family, and memories I’ll hold onto forever.

Birthday Bash Highlights

Since this weekend was all about celebrating my favorite people, I couldn’t resist going all out — especially when it came to the birthday cakes!

A Train Cake for My Little Engineer

For Laughing Coyote’s first birthday, I made a train cake that I have to say turned out pretty adorable (if I do say so myself)! Watching his little face light up when he saw his cake made every second of effort worth it.

The train cake I made for my little man!
I think the cake was a hit!

Celebrating My Dad’s 60th

The very next day, we celebrated my dad’s big 6-0, which is still hard for me to wrap my head around. How does time fly that fast? Although I didn’t make his cake (sometimes you just have to leave it to the professionals!), we all made sure to shower him with love, laughter, and plenty of stories from over the years.

My dad turned 60 the day before Laughing Coyote turned 1!! (I didn’t make my dad’s cake though)

Grandkids Galore

One of my favorite parts of the weekend was seeing all the grandkids together. There’s nothing quite like cousin chaos — running, laughing, and making memories that I know they’ll cherish just like we did when we were kids. These moments are what family is all about.

The grandkids!

Even though it was a fast trip, it was absolutely worth every mile, every cake crumb, and every packed minute. My heart is so full seeing my parents celebrate 40 years of marriage, my dad reach this amazing milestone, and my sweet boy turn ONE.
