Spiced Peach Goat Cheese Danish (Easy Puff Pastry Recipe)

If you’re looking for an easy dessert that feels a little more special, but doesn’t require a ton of time or ingredients. These spiced peach goat cheese danishes are exactly that.

They’re made with store-bought puff pastry, a simple creamy goat cheese filling, and sweet spiced peaches layered right on top. Everything bakes together into a flaky, golden pastry that looks like it came from a bakery.

The best part? They’re not overly sweet like most danishes. The goat cheese adds a subtle tang that balances the peaches perfectly, making them ideal for brunch, dessert, or even a quick treat during the week.

Recipe Inspiration

This recipe actually started with a completely different danish…not even peach! Ha!

I had Martha Stewart on in the background while I was in the kitchen making dinner, and out of nowhere I started wondering… does Martha Stewart accept guest contributors?

So naturally, like anyone in the middle of cooking, I completely sidetracked myself and went down a rabbit hole trying to find out. I even came across a few sketchy knockoff sites, sent them to my blogging BFF, laughed about it, and eventually got back to dinner.

But during that little detour, I stumbled across a photo of a cream cheese cherry danish… and immediately thought, I need to make that for dessert.

Since my house is always stocked (maybe too stocked 😅), I pulled a sheet of puff pastry out of the freezer to thaw and headed down to my canned goods pantry. I grabbed a jar of spiced peaches that I had canned a couple summers ago and brought them back up to the kitchen.

The only problem? I didn’t have enough cream cheese.

So I improvised and swapped in goat cheese instead. From there, this danish came together into a perfectly semi-sweet, slightly tangy treat—simple enough for a weeknight, but still feeling a little special.

Ingredients

You only need a handful of simple ingredients to make these danishes, and there’s a good chance you already have most of them on hand. Puff pastry keeps things easy, while goat cheese, vanilla, and a little peach juice come together for a creamy filling. I used my homemade spiced peaches, but canned peaches work just as well if that’s what you have!

Let’s Make It Together!

Start by making the filling. In a medium bowl, stir together the goat cheese, vanilla extract, and a little of the reserved juice from your canned spiced peaches until smooth and creamy.

Next, line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out your thawed puff pastry sheet and use a pizza cutter to cut it into 9 equal squares.

Spoon the goat cheese filling onto each square, then use the back of a spoon to spread it out, leaving a small border around the edges.

Thinly slice the canned peaches and arrange them over the top of the filling. Once each danish is topped with peaches, sprinkle them lightly with granulated sugar, if desired.

Bake at 400°F for 12–15 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and beautifully puffed.

Remove them from the oven, let them cool for a few minutes, then finish with a dusting of powdered sugar before serving.

These danishes turned out even better than I expected. They’re not overly sweet, which I love, and the goat cheese adds the most delicious, slightly tangy flavor that makes them feel a little more elevated than your typical fruit pastry. It’s that perfect balance of sweet and savory that keeps you going back for another bite!
