Downtown Chicago is absolutely gorgeous anytime of year, but at night, particularly in the winter, it is even more magical. The glowing lights, the gorgeous snowfall and the reflections of the buildings on the river. It is just gorgeous!
We recently returned from our annual trip “home” to Chicago to visit family for Christmas. While we were there, we made the most of every moment and jam packed our schedule with traditions and new experiences. Ice skating at the Bean in Millennium Park, breakfast at Wild berry Pancakes and Cafe, visiting Santa at Macy’s Santa Land were just some of our fun adventures! You can also check out the Best Views in Chicago, checking out Water Tower Place, and dinner at Harry Caray’s Restaurant.

The small building that looks like a turtle shell in between the two towers (Marina Towers) is the House of Blues. When I was in middle school, my mom brought me here to see N’Sync!! Lets just say that was an amazing experience! Behind the HOB (all of the skinny long windows = our hotel).
Views of Trump Tower and my favorite building downtown = the Wrigley Building (the one with the red and green pointy top). My freshmen year of college, I had come home from Ohio and came down to the city by myself to visit a friend of mine. On my way back to the train station (when you live in the suburbs you take a commuter train in and out of the city) I got lost and ended up here. A very nice construction worker helped me figure out how to get back! So…this building kind of marks a moment of grownup/still a kid moment for me!

We woke up to a winter wonderland!
The kids were amused by all of the ways that the city keeps their streets and sidewalks safe! Life is so different in the south!
I highly recommend checking out Chicago at night, especially in the winter! Just be prepared to freeze! So bring a few extra layers!
