10 Day California Coast Road Trip | Day 9: San Francisco, California
Overview: Spent the day in San Francisco and visited the TV show “Full House” house, riding the iconic cable cars, visiting Fisherman’s Wharf and walking the Golden Gate Bridge.
We woke up, totally not early, and ate breakfast that sweet Vivian made for us. The kids got to experience their very first mango mocktails! I’ll have to share the recipe soon!
The five of us, then headed out to head back to San Francisco for the day, with Rob and Vivian following behind just a short bit after.
“Full House” house
When Clayton plans our family vacations, he always consults everyone on what they want to do. Colton, our youngest, was insistent that we go see the “Full House” house! About a year ago, when Clayton and I were either in Jamaica or Italy, my parents watched the kids and they found “Fuller House” on Netflix and watched it! Since then, Colton has loved watching the original “Full House”, the one I grew up watching every TGIF!!

San Francisco Cable Car System
We met Rob and Vivian downtown San Francisco at the Powell and Market Cable Car Turnaround cable car stop. The cable car came down the street…

Then the cable car operators, have to hop out, and manually turn the car around on the turntable!

The hilly streets have embedded tracks that the cable cars run on.

Everyone wanted to take their turns standing and hanging off the side 🙂 (my mommy heart had palpations while they did this!)

Of course I refused to let my little guy stand without daddy holding on 🙂 – I will never apologize for being a protective mother.

Be still my heart 💙 My baby 😃

Buena Vista Coffee Shop, San Francisco, California
Years ago, Clayton had heard about this cute coffee shop called Buena Vista in San Francisco down near the wharf. So when he and I visited back in 2015, we made it a point to stop by and grab an Irish coffee (an non-Irish for me!).

Every year on Mother’s Day, since then, he makes me the homemade version of the Buena Vista Irish coffee – which is amazing! My bucket list item for this vacation was of course, coming back to Buena Vista!

The kids got iced coffees (left) and Clayton and I got the Irish coffees (right) (again, mine without the alcohol). We all loved the coffee so much! … it’s the cream!! Who wouldn’t want all of that cream?!?!?

Fisherman’s Wharf

Boudin
Rob and Vivian had told us about a restaurant down on the wharf called Boudin that served clam chowder in a bread bowl. You didn’t have to pull our arms too hard to give it a try! So we all headed there and admired their interesting baked goods and ate their yummy soup!

Pier 39 Sea Lions _____
We headed down the wharf to Pier 39 to catch a glimpse of the sunbathing sea lions.

For fun, you can check out this video I shared of ________ back in 2015.
Ghirardelli Square
We walked through Ghirardelli Square but didn’t stop to purchase anything. While you had the option to purchase ice cream desserts, the only other thing I saw were bags of Ghirardelli chocolates that I buy at Walmart! So, whomp whomp. We didn’t buy anything.

Japanese Tea Garden, San Francisco, California
We took an Uber to the other side of the city to visit the Japanese Tea Garden, located in Golden Gate Park.

There was a small outdoor restaurant at the Japanese Tea Garden that served freshly brewed tea and various desserts; mochi and green tea cheesecake were our choices!

Golden Gate Bridge
After the gardens, we parted ways with Rob and Vivian and we took a bus to the Golden Gate Bridge.

We walked for a bit on the walking path on the bridge. Clayton and I had walked across the Golden Gate Bridge back in 2015, but we were short on time and it’s a 2 mile hike one way…so…we only walked a little bit.

After the visiting the bridge, we took the city bus to the location we were dropped of by the street car. However, we had just missed the car, and the next one wasn’t for another 30 minutes. The kids voted for catching an Uber to take us back to the parking garage.

We met Rob and Vivian back in Walnut Creek and went to Headlands Brewery for a late dinner and drinks before heading back to their place to call it quits on day 9!
