Valentine's Day – Bruce Style!
Due to Lover Boy’s extended work trip in MI we ended up not leaving Illinois until Monday, Valentine’s Day. We woke up at 2:45am bright eyed and bushy tailed to begin our trek back to the south, to the warm weather! After 18 hours in the car we finally arrived home! We all cried for joy! It was glorious…until I realized that I had no idea where I packed the house keys (we had a rental van due to the trip being work related). To top it off my cell phone had fallen underneath the very back seat and could not be reached (until we unpacked the van and took out the seat!…story of my life! always something!)
My sleepy little guy and I walked to our neighbors house, knocked on the door (mind you it was after 9pm) and asked if they could lend me my key that I had given them in case of an emergency on our last trip! Ahh, I am so thankful for wonderful neighbors! We got everything unpacked and Lover Boy headed on out to the car wash to rid the van of the salt and snow it had endured all week. We then packed up the kids in my car and followed the sparkling white van to the airport rental car location…only to find out that they would be closed because it was after midnight.
Lover Boy headed to the grocery store to buy a few things for in the morning (and a pizza because he and I had the late night munchies) while the kids and I headed home to bed!
All I’m going to say is I woke up to Lover Boy telling me he put the pizza in the oven and then passed back out. I remember having a dream thinking that something smelled really bad…then I woke up. Guess what that bad smell was??? The PIZZA! this is what it looked like after being in the oven 4 hours…

Let me just say that our house smells fabulous! 😉
To make things better the next day we made the following:
Recipe to come!
These were just boxed Ghiradelli Double Fudge Brownies that we cut out with cookies cutter and then drizzled with my homemade caramel sauce. We waited for Lover Boy to get home to eat these three…but the rest were already gone!…
