When I think of Christmas cookies, there are two cookies that automatically come to my mind. Neither of which are overly “Christmas-y” but they are overly delicious!
Each year, ever since I was a little girl, my mom would spend hours in the kitchen perfectly hand rolling her classic sugar cookies and her peanut butter and Hershey Kiss cookies (some people call these “peanut blossoms”, but we never did).
My mom honestly spends so much time making sure that each cookie is absolutely perfect shaped and uniform in size with the rest … otherwise it’s scraped. I’m not even joking!

Me on the other hand, am not a perfectionist when it comes to baking cookies and I tend to break all of the rules that she taught me: precise measuring scraping off the measuring cups with a knife, chilling the dough for hours or days, and rolling/cutting out the most accurate shape possibly.
I tend to think of baking cookies like ironing clothes. If a clothing item requires ironing, I simply don’t buy it. If a cookie recipe is complicated or hard, I don’t make it.
But both of these cookie recipes are delicious and I want to make them every year…I just don’t have the time to make them the way my mom did, so I have made adjustments to the process over the years and they taste just as amazing as if my mom made them!
These peanut butter cookies topped with a Hershey Kiss are seriously some of my favorite cookies! Despite the fact that I’m not really a fan of peanut butter…but add the chocolate candy and bam! It makes a super addicting cookie!
How To Make Mom’s Peanut Butter & Kisses Cookies
In my experience, there’s a bit of an art to eating a peanut butter Hershey Kiss cookie! To get that perfect balance in every bite, you need just the right amount of chocolate with the peanut butter. The trick? Gently rotate the cookie as you eat, ensuring each bite is a harmonious blend of flavors. I’m telling you, you will be thankful for this little tip!
I dare you to not eat an entire cooling rack worth of cookies…because I’m telling you, it’s nearly impossible! 😂
There’s something just so irresistible between the combination of the salty peanut butter and the sweet chocolate that makes you crave cookie after cookie!…and they’re always the best when they are made by my mom!
