Easy Firework Sugar Cookies for 4th of July
Celebrate 4th of July with these easy and delicious firework sugar cookies that take only a few minutes to make!
Celebrate the Fourth of July with a burst of flavor and color from our red, white, and blue firework cookies. These patriotic treats feature a delicious sugar cookie base adorned with vibrant icing in patriotic hues, resembling dazzling fireworks in the night sky. Perfect for Independence Day festivities, these festive cookies will add a touch of patriotic flair to your celebration.

I love making and decorating baked goods and cookies, especially for the holidays. I usually start out the day serving my kiddos these 4th of July breakfast muffins and then for dessert later in the day, I serve these 4th of July M&M cookies. This year I wanted to try something new, so I figured I’d make some cookies that looked like they were really hard, but were in fact super easy to make!
Lets Make Them Together
Sugar Cookies
First off, you need to bake sugar cookies. I always use my mom’s tried and true sugar cookie recipe. They are perfect for decorating – not too puffy and not too thin. They are great!
Royal Icing
Next it’s time to mix up royal icing. I whip 3oz egg whites until fluffy and then add in 4 cups of powdered sugar. Whip until a toothpaste consistency and then add in colors and pour into piping bags.
Decorating
- Ice the entire cookie white
- Pipe red and blue circles – they do not have to be perfect!
- Drag a toothpick from the center circle outward through each color of icing
- Let dry
- Devour!

Video Tutorial
I made a quick video tutorial showing how to make them!
