Mount Mitchell State Park, NC, Blue Ridge Parkway Milepost 349.9
This past weekend for Mother’s Day we headed up to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains to Mt. Mitchell, NC which is in Pisgah National Forest. Six years ago this was the very first hike we took Little Finch on – we traveled up from GA (where we lived at the time) and hiked it as well as toured Biltmore and much more.

So many people ride their bikes up these mountains – to be honest, I don’t know how they do it! Not only would I pass out on the way up…but going down they are flying! It’s actually really scary to watch I think!
At the top of Mt. Mitchell there is a snack shop, gift shop and museum. The trail to the overlook is paved and is handicap accessible.
Here is the outlook from down below.
A look back down towards the snack bar, etc.
Here’s some of the gorgeous views we had! This was our 4th time here and the very first time we were able to catch a view! The weather changes very quickly here, in fact, it has had snowfall 12 months of the year! On our past trips here the fog has been super heavy and you literally couldn’t see 10 feet in front of you.
The museum is great for kids and adults! It’s interactive and fun but full of interesting information and facts!
Mt. Mitchell is a gorgeous place to visit! The views are absolutely breathtaking! There is fun for all ages to be had here! I would highly recommend visiting!
If you head to Asheville I highly recommend you eat at The Market Place.
What wonderful scenery! I have never been there before. Thanks for linking with home matters linky party!!!
