Homemade Lo Mein Noodles & Steak
The easiest, most delicious lo mein you will make! It’s quick, healthy and best of all, it’s kid approved!!!
This delicious Homemade Lo Mein Noodles & Steak is perfect for a busy night dinner – it really is the BEST lo mein recipe!
My kids are absolutely 100% obsessed with “Chinese noodles” aka Lo Mein. I’m a sucker for calling in a large order of only lo mein noodles more often that I would like to admit simply because my kids love them and won’t eat homemade lo mein noodles…well that is until I discovered the best recipe for them. Even I like them and Chinese food is definitely not on my list of favorites.

I was desperate one night to find a lo mein recipe so I didn’t have to run out and pick some up (and lets be honest, waste $10 on noodles!!!) I came across this amazing video on YouTube and thought I would give it a try…only I didn’t have half of the ingredients. (but it’s OK! I modified to the ingredients I had and it turned out amazing!)

Like I said I didn’t have most of the ingredients they used so let me show you how I made my lo mein noodles that my kids gave a 5 star review to and have begged for them over and over again since!
Homemade Lo Mein Noodles & Steak

Cook fettuccine noodles al dente and set aside
I always use my favorite pasta pot my sister gave me for cooking noodles because it has a strainer top – one less dish to wash! Score! (I have the black one but I love this red one!!)

Start by chopping cabbage, carrots, mushrooms and onions

Heat EVOO in a skillet

Next, add vegetables and cook until slightly softened

Add noodles to the wok and toss with vegetables

Add sauce – you can do as much or little as you like. I prefer to only do a little bit because I don’t like super saucy things

Remove noodles and veggies and cook a strip steak in the same skillet. Sear on both sides, remove and place on cutting board. Using a sharp santoku knife slice into strips and then place back in the skillet and cook all of the way through

Remove the steak and mix with the noodles. Serve in a pretty dish or straight from the wok! This is the fun dish I served it in!
- Fettuccine noodles
- EVOO
- 1/2 c Cabbage
- 1/4 c Carrots
- 1/8 c Mushrooms (I used baby bella)
- 1/8 c Onions
- 3 tbs Stir-Fry Sauce
- 2 tbs Soy Sauce
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- pinch of pepper
- strip steak
- Cook noodles to al dente and set aside
- In a skillet heave EVOO, add vegetables and cook until slightly softened
- Add noodles to skillet and toss
- Stir in soy sauce mixture
- Remove noodles and vegetables from skillet and set aside but keeping warm
- In the same skillet sear a strip steak on both sides, remove and slice into strips, return to pan and cook all of the way through
- Add steak to noodles
- Serve and enjoy!
