Texas Hash Casserole is a classic comfort food that is an easy to make, delicious meal that includes ground beef, rice, tomatoes, green pepper, onion, chili powder, and cheese on top, baked in the oven.

Preheat oven to 350°F
in a skillet, brown ground beef
add diced onions and cook until translucent
add green peppers and cook for 1 minute
add chili powder and salt, stir
add diced tomatoes, stir. Turn off heat
rinse rice in a fine mesh strainer, then add uncooked rice to skillet
butter the inside of a CorningWare casserole dish
spoon half of the mixture into the CorningWare dish. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese
repeat the process; layer the remaining mixture onto the cheese, then sprinkle on more cheese
cover with glass lid and bake at 350°F for 1 hour. Remove the lid with 15 minutes left and bake uncovered
