Christkindlmarket is an outdoor Christmas themed vendor event inspired by the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, which began in 1545. The Christkindlmarket Chicago brings a cherished German and European tradition with international flair and local charm to Chicago.
If you’ve been following along with my other posts about our trip to Chicago you know we stayed downtown one night. My parents also stayed, so Lover Boy and I ditched the kids with them and went to the Christkindlmarket with my brother and his girlfriend.
The market takes place at the Daley Plaza in the Chicago Loop between Dearborn, Washington and Clark Street.
It was beyond frigid this night so all of my photos are honestly less than desirable. It was torture taking my hands out of my pockets to take photos, even with gloves on!
The market is full of little vendors selling the most unique items inspired from various places around the world. They also have food – like delicious, amazing, crazy interesting food! My favorite was fried cheese. (ha!)
There was a spot with a fire for people to warm up…even the darn pigeons were trying to warm up it was so cold!! hahaha!
Visiting the Christkindlmarket in Chicago, Illinois is a must-do spot to check out every year!
Thanks for stopping by! I'd love for you to FOLLOW ME!!
