DIY painted wooden signs are taking over the world! Well…maybe not really but they are taking over my house, that’s for sure! I seriously love them! They are so easy to make and take only a few minutes! The best thing about these signs is that you can make them whatever size you want, any color you want and any design you want! All it really takes is a little bit of creativity!
I was featured on WBTV Charlotte for a cooking segment and I needed to bring all of my own supplies and decorations. So of course I had to let my true self be on display with not only cooking…but my DIY projects as well! I made these particular signs to be apart of my set but plan on using them over and over again in the future!
Let me show you how easy they are to make!

I grabbed a piece of 1/4″ premium plywood that was a scrap and cut it to the size I wanted. I wanted to create a border on my sign so I measured in 1/4″ in on all sides
Once the lines were marked, I took painters tape and taped it off
Like so 🙂
I then pained the inside with black wall paint.
*Tip* Paint cans always become dented, rusty, etc so I buy condiment bottles in the food section at Wal-Mart and fill with paint that I use often. The bottles have a closure lid so it keeps the paint fresh!
I designed the lettering I wanted in my Silhouette Studio
*Tip* I always draw boxes around my different designs so that it doesn’t waste vinyl when weeding them out
I hot glued my larger sign to a wooden stick (a scrap piece of wood) so that it would show above the items I was placing in the wooden crate. I bought the wooden crate at Wal-Mart but a very similar one is HERE.
I painted the wooden crate a light, farmhouse blue
The next day I was all set and ready to rock and roll over at WBTV Charlotte!
